IQOS – Environmental Impact of the Product

We care about the impact our products have on the environment, not only on health. That’s why we are working to make our devices as sustainable as possible - from their design to the recycling process at the end of their lifecycle.

Eco‑design and product circularity

At PMI, we continuously improve the way we create our products in order to reduce their negative environmental impact. This means integrating sustainability principles, seeking better materials, and considering what happens to the product once you no longer use it.

In Serbia, we already collaborate with partners who help us properly collect and recycle electronic waste. In 2023, we expanded our Circular Program to include used SMARTCORE™ sticks. In 2025, in IQOS Zones in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš, and Kragujevac, together with our local operator, we collected and recycled more than 21 tons of used tobacco sticks. By the end of the year, we extended the program to all IQOS Zones and an additional 40 locations across Serbia. Our long‑term goal is to reduce the amount of waste by creating products that last longer, are easier to recycle, and use materials with a smaller carbon footprint. Until then, return your used SMARTCORE™ sticks to one of our IQOS Zones so we can responsibly send them for proper recycling.
