Cigarette smoke is a complex mixture of over 6,000 chemical substances, about 100 of which have been linked by public health authorities to smoking-related diseases. IQOS, on the other hand, does not burn tobacco, which means that it does not produce smoke, but an aerosol residue obtained by heating, which is significantly less harmful to health.

To demonstrate this, we conducted a comprehensive evaluation program that included 10 clinical studies on the chemical properties of aerosols (as well as data from 18 non-clinical studies) and involved thousands of participants from the US, Japan, UK and Poland.

In Serbia, we called on Milan Popović, a scientific communicator who is known for bringing science closer to different age groups and making it interesting. With his experiments, he explained in an accessible and simple way, why this new generation smokeless device is a better choice for adult smokers than classic cigarettes.

There is no ash

IQOS heats tobacco instead of burning it, meaning no fire, ash or smoke. This makes IQOS a better choice compared to continuing to smoke cigarettes.

There is no tar

Tar is the residue from smoke after burning a cigarette. IQOS creates an aerosol residue that is fundamentally different from tar and contains significantly lower levels of harmful ingredients.* Completely switching to IQOS is less harmful than continuing to smoke cigarettes.**

There is less carbon monoxide

IQOS does not burn tobacco, so it produces on average 98% less carbon monoxide (CO) and significantly lower levels of other harmful compounds compared to cigarettes.*
